Registering to Vote in Woodbury

Where do I Vote?
Regular Elections and Referenda are held at the Woodbury Senior Community Center, 265 Main Street South, Woodbury.
Same-day Voter Registration and Early Voting take place at the Woodbury Town Hall, Shove Building Conference Room, 281 Main Street S, Woodbury.

Residents can register to vote in the town of Woodbury in three ways.
Online
To register online, a person must be:
- A resident of the State of Connecticut
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years of age on or before the next Election Day
- Hold a valid CT driver’s license or other ID issued by the CT Department of Motor Vehicles
If you meet all the above requirements, please follow the direct link to online registration at voterregistration.ct.gov
If you don’t hold an ID issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles, you can still use the site to register to vote.
Select the option “I do not have a DMV ID” and follow the steps. Once completed, print the registration card, sign and date it, and mail it or deliver it in person to the Woodbury Registrar of Voters at the address above.
You should receive a confirmation in the mail. If you do not receive this confirmation within three weeks after submitting your application, please contact the registrar’s office at 203-263-4750.
In Person
You can register to vote by coming to the Registrar of Voters’ office at Woodbury Town Hall, 281 Main Street South on,
Tuesday 8:30am – 10:30am
Wednesday 8:30am – 10:30am
Thursday 8:30am – 10:30am
Registration can also be done in person at the Woodbury Town Clerk’s office, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the Registrars are unavailable.
To register to vote in Woodbury, a person must be:
- A resident of Woodbury
- At least 18 years old on or before the next Election Day
- A U.S. Citizen
- An elector
Voters will be required to provide identification proving their identity and address. Acceptable forms of identification include a valid driver’s license or other photo ID, US Passport, or a pre-printed form of ID, such as a current tax bill or utility bill, pay stub, bank statement, or social security card. If the identification does not include proof of address, the applicant must also provide documentation proving a residential address, e.g., a utility bill less than 30 days old, a bank statement, a property tax bill, a paycheck, naturalization documents, or a recent passport that includes the address.

Confirmation that your registration was accepted will be sent to you in the mail. If you do not receive this confirmation within three weeks of mailing your application, please contact the registrar’s office.
Absentee Ballots
The Woodbury Town Clerk’s Office handles all Absentee Ballots.
Obtaining an absentee ballot:
- First, you will have to complete an application, which must be verified by the office of the Town Clerk
- An absentee ballot will then be issued. Absentee ballots can be mailed to the applicant, be given to the applicant in person, or be given to the applicant’s designee.
- Ballots must be returned to the office of the Town of Woodbury Town Clerk before the polls close, 8:00 PM on the day of the election.
Election Day Voter Registration
Same-day voter registration (also known as SDR) is only available for elections. It cannot be used for a primary, special election, town committee primary, or referendum.
Eligibility requirements to register and vote on Election Day:
- The person is not already an elector, or
- The person is registered in one municipality but wants to change his or her registration because he or she currently resides in another municipality.
By law, a person is eligible to register and vote if he or she is:
- A U.S. citizen,
- Age 18 or older, and
- A bona fide resident of the municipality where he or she applies for admission as an elector.
Voters will be required to provide identification proving their identity and address. Acceptable forms of identification include a valid driver’s license, birth certificate, or social security card. If the identification does not include proof of address, the applicant must also provide documentation proving residential address e.g. a utility bill less than 30 days old, bank statement, property tax bill, paycheck, naturalization documents, or a recent passport that includes the address.
In Woodbury, same-day voter registration will take place at Woodbury Town Hall. Voters must have completed the registration process before being issued a ballot. All ballots must be cast by 8:00 pm on Election Day.
All same-day applicants MUST cast the ballot immediately after registration.
Early Voting
Early Voting (EV) is only used for primaries, special elections, and regular elections. The number of days available to early vote varies by type of election. Hours for each election will be posted at WoodburyCT.org.
Additional Information for Referenda:
Property owners who are not registered voters in Woodbury may vote at a referendum provided they are U.S. Citizens, at least 18 years of age, and own property valued at $1,000.00 or more recorded on the Woodbury Grand List. However, property ownership cannot be in a “trust,” LLC, or Corporation.
