2024 High School Photo Contest Awards
Warmest congratulations to this year’s winners!
1st Place
Gemma Hedrei – “Running Wild”
There are so many different ways to interpret and represent freedom. In my photograph, I chose to showcase the freedom of nature, the freedom of being a child, and the freedom of running with wild abandon. The photograph was taken where I live, at Freedom Acres Farm. Freedom is the most important part of our country, and it provides such a spirit and a sense of independence. I think my photograph embodies that concept well.
2nd Place
Claire Rogers – “Freedom for All”
Freedom can come in many shapes and forms. Freedom is deserved by all and appreciated by all. Freedom should not be earned nor pleaded for and should be honored by all, no matter the time, as not everyone is as lucky as we are. Freedom should bring people together in celebration. Freedom is and should be for everyone, with no exceptions.
3rd Place (tied)
Lila Rogers – “Burst of Freedom”
3rd Place (tied)
Morgan Willis – “Thank you”
This photo really speaks to me when it comes to the concept of freedom. Not only does it show the most stereotypical way we celebrate freedom, but it also represents the freedom of the people. In this photo, people sit together, watching a scene of beautiful fireworks together. It shows their relationships, their happiness, and the freedom that lets them feel these things. They are free, and that makes them able to do these things with the ones they love.
This photo symbolizes freedom as it captures the graves of fallen soldiers whose sacrifices during the war helped secure the liberties we enjoy today.
