Who We Are – Our Mission and Values – How We Work

Who We Are

  • The Woodbury Democratic Town Committee consists of eighteen members and six alternate members elected for 2-year terms at a Caucus open to all registered Democratic voters in Woodbury.
  • Elections are in January of even-numbered years. The next election of the WDTC will be held in January 2026.
  • Officers are elected in March following the January caucus and consist of the Chair, Vice Chairs (2), Secretary, and Treasurer. Democratic members of the Board of Selectmen are ex-officio members of the Executive Committee.
  • WDTC members and seated Alternates are entitled to vote at WDTC meetings.
  • Elected members of Woodbury Boards and Commissions may also be seated as Alternates at a WDTC meeting.
  • All Woodbury registered Democrats are invited to attend the WDTC monthly meetings.

Our Values

The Woodbury Democratic Town Committee encourages civic involvement and promotes inclusiveness, equality, freedom, and justice for all.

Our Mission

  • Recruit, nominate, and elect well-qualified residents to serve on the town’s Boards and Commissions.
  • Support Democratic nominees for State and Federal offices.
  • Support Civil discourse, Civic Engagement, and Excellence in Education at an affordable cost to the community,
  • Promote environmental stewardship.

To support our values and mission, the WDTC encourages involvement in Town Governance
and participates in and organizes activities, such as:

  • The annual Memorial Day Parade in honor of our fallen heroes.
  • Funding the annual Ella Grasso Scholarship through the Woodbury Scholarship Fund.

  • Organizing the History Walks.
  • Recognizing residents for their community service through the Adele Taylor Civic Award.

How We Work

We encourage and promote participation in civic events through our Newsletter and the WDTC Facebook page, where we,

  • Remind voters of upcoming referenda for town and Region 14 budgets, town, and school
board elections, and state and federal elections
  • Promote civic engagement in elections and issues by writing postcards and letters, participating in canvassing, making phone calls, and participating in other Get Out The Vote (GOTV) activities.
  • Post reminders of Town Meetings, where voters can become informed about the town and school
budgets and can actively participate in town government.
  • Invite citizens to the semi-annual town road cleanups in April and October, organized by the
    Woodbury Conservation Commission.
